She explains why transgender activism is not a left-wing ideology, although it is certainly heavily pushed by the left. Rather, it is the outcome of neo-liberal thinking that says the market can and should supply whatever the consumer demands.
Under the trans movement’s influence, biological sex, identity, gender and womanhood are now fair market game. These are all products that can be plucked off the shelf. So too with puberty. Trans activists reimagine children as rational consumers, who, provided with appropriate information, must be free to select from a range of options for how or if they develop. Natural puberty, puberty blockers, the physical changes achieved through cross-sex hormones, delayed puberty or no puberty, are all equally valid consumer choices. If the kid wants it, the market should supply it. Trans activists, like all neoliberal zealots, argue that this market must be protected at all costs.
By SOME of the left-identified parties and people. :) I don't think identifying as left wing means you are left wing., I consider left wing in the classic sense of recognising material reality and accepting a larger role of the state is necessary to support wellbeing. NZ Labour brought in the most extreme voluntarily adopted neoliberal policies in the world. We're no stranger with left-identified parties and people turning tail.
Hey, I've got a great idea! I have many friends who fit the "senior" label. How's about we dream up a scheme that guarantees them eternal life; I'm sure we can think of something that will make us rich and who cares if they die anyway? At least we won't get sued for peddling a delusion the way that the gender woo medical crowd is going to be over the next few years.
To further our aims, we can start to identify as wealthy men as this is who is behind the transhumanist movement.
