It will be helpful, for example, for parents to know that trans ideation is a mental health condition which does not carry a higher suicide risk than other mental health conditions in young people. I cannot say enough how shameful it has been for health professionals to have put the ‘suicide risk’ burden on parents of trans ideating kids, whether or not they thought they were acting appropriately at the time. There is no excuse for a lack of critical thinking for health professionals.
